14th May 2018

This June 2018 we are launching our #challenge518. Since May 2017 our highly qualified and dedicated team of Hospice at Home nurses have supported a further 79 people living in your community in the last few weeks of their lives.

We are incredibly proud and humbled to say that we have fulfilled the last wishes of 518 local Corby people, by caring for them in their own homes, surrounded by their loved ones. Our #challenge518 is in remembrance of all 518 patients and their families, highlighting the amazing work of our dedicated team of hospice at home nurses.

We already have lots of businesses and individuals committed to rising to the challenge including:
Asda, Morrisons, Tesco Extra, Puredrive, I Force, Corby Radio, No Limits Adventure, Lloyds Bank, FMH Conveyors, The Cardigan Arms, The Shire Horse, The Polish Film Club, Priors Hall Residents Committee, The Grampian… the list is growing on a daily basis – why not get inspired and join in the fun!!

Throughout June we are hosting a variety of challenges including a charity firewalk, donut challenge, porridge eating competition, haggis eating completion and a new and exciting Young Survivors Challenge which is aimed at kids aged 8-14 years. Keep checking out our facebook page for all of the exciting events coming up.....

Residents of Corby borough you are all awesome – did you know since the challenge was launched back in September 2015 (it was then #challenge300) you amazing people have raised in excess of £22,500! Last year we asked you to help us raise £10,000, together you smashed it as a community and raised a staggering £12,428.31 for our cause!

Lakelands Hospice still does NOT receive any government or NHS funding, without your generosity we would not be able to provide our amazing Hospice at Home service free of charge to all of our patients and their families.

Lynn Davies, our Hospice at Home Co-ordinator has quoted “On behalf of our patients, their carers and families we would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who has risen to the challenge in the past and those rising this year, you are all truly amazing!’

We are hoping as many people as possible will get involved to help smash this year’s target. People can host a one-off fundraiser or a variety of events throughout the month of June, a fantastic fundraisers pack is available to inspire you – call Marina on: 01536 747755 or email marinarae@lakelandshospice.org.uk

So come on everybody, it’s time to be creative, wacky and zany and rise to #challenge518….
