Brass Monkey 2020 Important Announcement

IT IS WITH IMMENSE REGRET AND FRUSTRATION THAT LAKELANDS HOSPICE IS FORCED TO ANNOUNCE THE POSTPONEMENT OF THE 2020 BRASS MONKEY 10K & FUN RUN SCHEDULED FOR SUNDAY 26TH JANUARY 2020

We received notice this morning from the Rockingham Speedway Circuit owners that “Unfortunately, the circuit and all pit garages are now occupied by a client on a temporary basis whilst we develop the site.” Due to the timing of this announcement it is not possible to secure a location that’s UKA measured, licensed and both big enough and safe enough to accommodate us at such short notice and have no choice but to take the difficult decision to step back from the 2020 event. Anyone that has pre entered will of course receive a FULL refund.

As the Head of Fundraising here at Lakelands and a runner myself I can only apologise for having to send this email, I cannot describe how disappointed we are to not be able to run our tenth anniversary Brass Monkey this year, Lakelands Hospice is incredibly proud to have grown the event from a field of 70 fun runners to a 2018 high of over 700 UKA affiliated athletes, fun runners, children’s fun runners and wheel chair racers, as well as raising over £70k for our hospice, we cannot thank you all enough for your support over the years.

I realise that a lot of the trust and goodwill we’ve built up over the years will evaporate which I fully understand but I can only assure you that we will be doubling our efforts in the coming months to find an alternative iconic  location within the Corby Borough to make the Brass Monkey 2021 event happen.

Look out for an announcement later this year on what we hope will be the re-invention of a fantastic event that makes such a difference to people living with life limiting illnesses, good luck in all your running adventures throughout 2020.
