Q) Can I volunteer if I have a disability?

A) Yes! We try very hard to find suitable roles for all volunteer.

Q) What is the minimum and maximum age?

A) 14 years to 100!  (although our vehicle insurance will not cover anyone over the age of 70 years.)

Q) I work during the week but still want to help

A) Our Emporium and warehouse are open on Saturdays or alternatively our fundraising team need support at events.

Q) Expenses

A) Although we would love to pay home to Lakelands travel expenses, we simply do not have the funding. However all other Lakelands related out of pocket expenses are re-imbursed.

Q) Why must I complete a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check?

A) As Lakelands is a hospice, we have a duty of care to vulnerable people and some volunteer roles within the hospice require a DBS check to be carried out.

Q) Do I need qualifications or skills to volunteer at lakelands?

A) Although always useful, qualifications and skills are not essential as training will be given.

Q) What if I don't want to do a particular role?

A) Volunteers only participate in activities they are comfortable doing.

Q) Can I take holidays?

A) volunteers take holidays whenever they choose.

Q) How long will I have to commit for?

A) Although we do appreciate a little notice,  volunteers are free to leave at any time.

Q) How much time do I need to give each week?

A) Volunteer from 2 hours per week
