Openening of Information and Support Centre PDF Print E-mail

On Wednesday 27th August the Lakelands Information and Support Centre was officially opened to the public. The ribbon cutting above was done by two people who had contributed massively to the funding of the project: Julia Rattigan (Left) and Gwyn Hinvest (Right) who represented the Corby Rotary Club.

Both Julia's and the Corby Rotary Club's Fundraisng efforts and hard work mean that Lakelands can now provide an Informative Drop-in service for anyone in the area who needs information on life limiting illnessess.

Phil Hope, the Minister for the Third Sector and MP for Corby and East Northamptonshire, also made a visit on the day of the opening and was very pleased with the great work has been done to make the centre such a valuable resource for the community.

The objective of the drop-in centre is to provide people in the area a resource for information and advice that is both informal and accessible. Maggie Montgomery, who will be running the Centre said "Being someone who has suffered cancer myself, as well as knowing what it is like to care for someone who is seriously ill - I understand the need for accessible and accurate information."

The Information and Support Centre is open from Tuesday - Friday 10am - 4pm and provides information on many life-limiting illnesses, advice for carers and family members as well as important financial guidance. There is no need to book an appoint, people can simply drop-in during the open times.
